Rinat Faisrachmanowitsch Dassajew ( Russian Ринат Файзрахманович Дасаев ; born July 13, 1957 in Astrakhan , RSFSR , USSR ) is a former Soviet football player of Tatar origin and later Russian coach .

Career

Dassayev was one of the best goalkeepers of the 1980s and was a regular goalkeeper for the Soviet national team at the soccer world championships in Spain in 1982 , in Mexico in 1986 and in Italy in 1990 .

His greatest success was the 1988 European Championship in Germany . With world-class performances, he was the guarantee for the Soviet Union's entry into the final against the Netherlands . There the keeper of Spartak Moscow lost with the Sbornaja 2-0 and was powerless in both goals, but especially in Marco van Basten's goal of the century . In the same year he was voted World Goalkeeper of the Year. Overall, he stood between the posts for the senior national team of the USSR 91 times.

At the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow , he played six games and ultimately won the bronze medal with the Soviet Olympic selection .
