Riviera is a municipality between Bellinzona and Biasca in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland . It was formed on April 2, 2017 as a merger of the former political communities of Cresciano , Iragna , Lodrino and Osogna .

geography

The municipality includes the Val di Lodrino , which is drained by the Lodrino . The municipal office is located in Osogna, other municipal authorities in other places. The area in the Rivieratal through which the Ticino flows extends to 8607 hectares . The Lodrino military airfield is located between the A2 motorway and the Ticino River .

The neighboring communities are Biasca , Pollegio , Personico , Lavertezzo and Calanca in the canton of Graubünden .

The municipality of Riviera together with Biasca forms the Riviera district since April 2nd, 2017.

population

The new municipality has 4220 inhabitants (December 31, 2018) with Lodrino as the largest town.
