Robert Leighton (film editor)

Robert Leighton (* before 1975 in London , England ) is a British film editor .

biography

Born in London, Robert Leighton studied at the London Film School and then worked for a time as an assistant editor at the British broadcaster BBC before emigrating to the USA in 1975. There he found work that same year and assisted John C. Howard in editing the comedy thriller Mastermind . He made his debut as an independent editor in 1980 with the Australian-Dutch action musical drama Stunt Rock , albeit under the pseudonym Robert H. Money .

In 1984 Leighton assisted the two film editors Kent Beyda and Kim Secrist . They edited Rob Reiner's directorial debut, This Is Spinal Tap . A year later, Leighton was the sole editor in charge of his comedy Der Volltreffer . Since then, Leighton has edited all of Reiner's films, sometimes alone, sometimes in partnership with other editors. His greatest success so far was when he was nominated for Best Editing at the 1993 Academy Awards for his work on Reiner's court thriller A Question of Honor .
