Robin Blase (born October 17, 1991 in Mannheim ) is a German web video producer , actor , presenter , podcaster and managing director . He became known, among other things, through his YouTube channel RobBubble , which he has been running since 2006.

Life

Robin Blase got his start in online media at the age of 14 with his gaming podcast , which won the German Podcast Award in 2007. This led to his first jobs during his school days, including as a freelance radio presenter for gaming topics at Deutschlandfunk and as a podcaster for the online magazine Onlinewelten.com. He uploaded his first YouTube video to the platform over 10 years ago. While studying acting in Los Angeles , Robin started working as a production assistant for the well-known YouTuber Phillip DeFranco and was able to learn YouTube from one of the platform's biggest stars.

At the beginning of his second degree in film and television production in Berlin , he developed the channels Was Geht Ab !? for the multi-channel network Mediakraft ? and Techscalibur and managed them as creative producers .

Since 2014 he has worked on YouTube productions as a creative producer and influencer - marketing expert for various networks, production companies and companies, such as the Studio71 project Mansion The Mansion or as editor-in-chief of the EinsPlus broadcast 1080NerdScope , a pilot project for funk - the content network of ARD & ZDF .

As an expert, he is on stage as a speaker at events such as re: publica , Cebit or Dmexco , in front of the camera at N24 or KiKA or is a member of the jury for the digital award. As a moderator, he moderated events such as the red carpet at the Golden Camera , the YouTube interviews by Angela Merkel and Martin Schulz, and videos from the WDR channel reporter.

Robin Blase was also seen in two episodes in the ARD series Lindenstrasse in March 2019 . At the end of May 2019 he was a guest of the Phoenix Runde .

Since the beginning of 2017, he and his partner Claudia Langer have also been the founder and managing director of Richtig Cool GmbH, a production company and agency that specializes in the holistic conception and implementation of video content online.

He has been running his own satire and comedy channel RobBubble, which was nominated for the 2014 web video prize and won the ZDF ZDF's ZDI Talents Award in 2017 for the best web series concept, since November 2013. Robin has already designed or helped shape the content of six channels , which were awarded the Silver Playbutton by YouTube (over 100,000 subscribers). Together with YouTube colleague David Hain , he has also been running the successful Lästerschwestern podcast since January 2018 (Best Podcast 2018 on iTunes and Spotify ) and is one of the hosts of the funk reportage channel follow me.reports.

In addition to YouTube , he is involved with loot for the world (nominated for the German Webvideopreis 2015 winner German Webvideopreis 2017 in the category "Social Good", nominated for the German Developer Award 2018), an annual Twitch - Live Stream for charitable purposes. The campaign, which was launched together with YouTubers LeFloid , Frodoapparat & the Space Frogs , has already donated over three quarters of a million euros to charitable organizations. Career

Acting

Robin Blase was already on stage during his school days in school theater and outside of school. Immediately after graduating from high school, in 2010 he began studying acting at the renowned Lee Straßberg Theater and Film Institute in Hollywood , which he graduated in 2012. Meanwhile, he has appeared in front of the camera in numerous student and indie films. During the same period he also completed an improvisational comedy training at the Groundling School of Improv .

Moderation

YouTube

The YouTube channel RobBubble was founded in December 2006. Originally intended as an additional platform for Blase's gaming podcast of the same name, the channel received comedy satire content in 2013. In 2014 the channel was nominated for the German Web Video Award in the “Newcomer” category and in 2017 it received the ZDI Talent Award for the best web series concept. The channel offers a mix of entertainment, comedy and satire with journalistic content popular. The content included a five-hour live stream of the 2017 federal election , the parodic rap character Mitabeitah , a competition report with the WDR , and the comedy crime series Arrest Warrant .

What's up?!

In 2013, Robin Blase developed the news channel Was Geht Ab ?! on behalf of the YouTube network Mediakraft . , with the experience he was able to gain through his time with the role model Sourcefed in the USA. There he stood in front of the camera as a presenter together with numerous other YouTubers, such as LeFloid , the Space Frogs , Frodoapparat, Fewjar , Marti Fischer , Ooobacht, Alive4Fashion and Ben Jaworskyj and was responsible behind the camera as a creative producer together with Dominik Lehmann . The aim of the channel was to provide up-to-date news for young people in an interesting and accessible way. The channel reached over 250,000 subscribers.

Robin Blase quit his job at Mediakraft in April 2015 and left the channel with it.

Techscalibur

In addition to What's Up ?! In 2013, Blase also developed the nerd news channel Techscalibur for Mediakraft , based on the US model Sourcefed Nerd , for whom he had previously worked. He ran the channel as creative producer , editor-in-chief and author of every single episode. In terms of content, Techscalibur - similar to Nerdscope later - revolved around news about films, series and video games. Techscalibur reached over 200,000 subscribers.

When Robin Blase quit his job at Mediakraft in 2015 , he also left Techscalibur behind.

The mansion

The Mansion was a two-month project from the YouTube network Studio71 in which Robin and other popular YouTubers such as Gronkh , Sarazar , MissesVlog , Fabian Siegismund and Behaind moved into a villa in Los Angeles to shoot videos together. Robin was involved in the channel both in front of and behind the camera. The Mansion reached 170,000 subscribers in a very short time.

After the time in Los Angeles, the project was ended. Studio71 did not pursue plans for another season in another city.

Nerdscope

The project was started in August 2015 under the name 1080Nerdscope as a pioneering project for funk (the new offer from ARD & ZDF ) together with SWR . Until October 2016, the program ran weekly on TV on EinsPlus , later on funk and simultaneously on the YouTube channel DoktorFroid . Robin stood together with Max Krüger (Frodoapparat) and Florian Mundt ( LeFloid ) as a presenter in front of the camera and was responsible behind the scenes as editor-in-chief. At the turn of the year, Robin Blase also took over the production in 2017 and continued the commercial show around games, series and films under the shortened name Nerdscope with his production company Richtig Cool GmbH .

It was financed from there through the crowd with patreon , and through collaborations with brands such as Sky , Kuehne , Yello , Electronic Arts and Warner Bros .

In September 2017, after over 100 videos and two years of full-time work, the project was discontinued.

Blasphemous sisters

In January 2018, David Hain and Robin Blase started their Blasphemy Sisters podcast . Every week the two discuss and gossip about YouTube , the Internet, films, video games and whatever else interests them. The podcast reached chart positions on iTunes and Spotify among the top 10 podcasts in Germany and around 60,000 listeners per episode. At the end of 2018, they were recognized as Best Podcast 2018 by both Spotify and iTunes and were also among the most downloaded new podcasts on iTunes in 2018.

In May the first live show took place at the Columbia Theater in Berlin. In July they took to the stage at the first Auf die Ears podcast festival.

follow me.reports

Since February 2018, Robin Blase has been part of the fourth season of follow me.reports, the radio report format from ZDFinfo , together with the YouTubers Klein aber Hannah and Aminata Belli . The moderators should face challenges and opinions that do not correspond to their living environment and they should meet people and professions that expand their own worldview. Blase's report topics included extreme sports free-skiing , the Bundeswehr , unemployed professional footballers, roller coaster builders, stand-up comedy , customs at the Hamburg harbor , paramedics at the Wacken Open Air , pyrotechnicians, bailiffs, stunt women, chimney sweeps, jockey and shop detectives in the hardware store.
