Life

Robson Green, 2015

Green was born in the northern English county of Northumberland , his first names as a firstborn are, according to a local tradition, made up of his family's last names. Robson was the maiden name of Green's grandmother, while Golightly goes back to William Golightly , a popular union leader of the 1920s. His father worked as a coal miner, because of which Green grew up in Dudley , a small mining town in North Tyneside .

Inspired by jet planes flying by, Green decided to join the Royal Air Force . When he entered secondary school, he attended the Air Training Corps , an organization for young people interested in the Army. Green also started playing guitar, eventually forming his first band, Solid State , in 1982 . He also gained his first stage experience as an actor at the Backworth Drama Center .

When Robson Green left school at the age of 17, he decided against the Royal Air Force, and also worked as a draftsman for the shipbuilding company Swan Hunter . He also began boxing training for a role in the play Francie Nichol . After two years at Swan Hunter, Green finally decided to take up acting. He took acting lessons from his former director Max Roberts while continuing his career as a musician and celebrating some regional successes with The Workie Tickets . Green finally had his first screen appearance in 1988 in an Amber Films short film.

Green first achieved national fame for his role in the BBC series Casualty , before his breakthrough as the fusilier Dave Tucker in the series Soldier Soldier . With his film partner Jerome Flynn he sang the song Unchained Melody . After the broadcaster ITV was showered with inquiries, the song was released as a single and sold more than 1.9 million copies in the UK and topped the UK charts for seven weeks. As Robson & Jerome , the duo had two more number 1 singles and two number 1 albums, all of which contained reinterpretations of well-known titles. In 1998 the duo finally separated in order to be able to concentrate fully on their respective acting careers. In 2002 Green released his first solo album, Moment in Time .

The great success of Soldier Soldier and Robson & Jerome gave Green the opportunity to sign a long-term contract with ITV, which brought him leading roles in various series of the station, such as Touching Evil , Grafters and Reckless . In addition, Green founded the production company Coastal Productions together with Sandra Jobling in 1996 , with which he said he wanted to give young artists from northern England opportunities that he had never had himself. The company has since produced both a number of Green's own work productions at the Theater Royal in Newcastle upon Tyne . One of his greatest successes with Coastal was the hit Christmas Lights , the success of which resulted in the creation of the Northern Lights and City Lights offshoots .

In 2002 Green took on the role of psychologist Dr. Tony Hill in the ITV series Hautnah - The Hill Method , with which he finally became known in Germany. By 2008, there were 24 episodes in six seasons before the series was discontinued due to high production costs. In 2005, Green starred in Like Father Like Son , where he played the boyfriend of a serial killer’s ex-wife. The son from this marriage is also charged with murder. He also played a widower in the miniseries Rocket Man who tries to build a rocket to shoot the ashes of his late wife into space.

In 2008 Greens started his own documentary series Robson Green Extreme Fishing , in which he traveled the world to practice the sport and to dig deeper. In December 2009, Robson Green's Wild Swimming Adventure followed , a series in which he took swimming tours in different parts of the United Kingdom .

In July 1998, Green was awarded an honorary doctorate from Northumbria University . In a poll by ITV in September 2006, he was also voted 35th among the most popular British television stars of all time.

Robson Green's German dubbing voice up close - The Hill method is Stephan Schwartz , in the film And Suddenly It Was Love (2002) Marcus Off lent him his voice.

Private

On June 22, 1991, Green married Alison Ogilvie, an occupational therapist who had previously been introduced to him by his friend and director Andrew Gunn . After eight years, however, the couple separated again. During the shooting of Unchained Melody , the actor met former model Vanya Seager, who gave birth to a son in 2000. Green and Seager were married in 2001 at Cliveden House in Buckinghamshire after a family celebration in Mauritius . The family lived in Surrey Northamptonshire with Seager's daughter from a previous relationship . In October 2011, the couple announced their separation.

Green is also the uncle of actor Daymon Britton , best known for his role in the British youth series Byker Grove .
