Roger Epple

Roger Epple is a German conductor .

After studying in Munich, he was Kapellmeister at the Leipzig Opera , then first Kapellmeister at the Nationaltheater Mannheim . In 1996 he was hired as one of the youngest general music directors at the Halle Opera House . The focus of his work there was the symphonic repertoire of Gustav Mahler , Johannes Brahms and Anton Bruckner as well as the operas of Richard Strauss and Richard Wagner . In addition, he is also considered a specialist in contemporary musicwhich is reflected in a large number of world premieres .

From the 2012/2013 season to 2015/2016, Roger Epple took over the position of general music director at the Oldenburg State Theater .

He has conducted major orchestras at home and abroad a. a. in Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin, Brussels, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Berlin, Munich, Dresden and Leipzig.

Numerous CD recordings a. a. for Sony , Teldec , Capriccio and cpo document its versatility. For his recording of Karl Amadeus Hartmann's wax museum , he was awarded the Echo-Klassik .
