Roland Kirstein

Roland Kirstein (born August 10, 1965 in Bremen ; maiden name: Schröder ) is a German economist and professor of business administration at the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg .

Life

Roland Kirstein completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk after graduating from high school in Bremen . He studied law and economics at Saarland University with a degree in economics in 1994. His dissertation in 1998 with Dieter Schmidtchen in Saarbrücken dealt with the subject of “Imperfect courts and contractual compliance . An economic theory of judicial decisions ”. This work was awarded the "Eduard Martin Prize" from the Association of Friends of Saarland University in 2000.

The cumulative habilitation in 2004 included contributions to banking regulation , environmental economics and constitutional economics as well as to "strategic insurance". Since October 2006, Roland Kirstein has represented the business administration professorship “Business Economics” at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. In August 2007 he was appointed professor for "Economics of Business and Law". In October 2012 he was elected chairman of the Society for Law and Economics .

In 2002, at the invitation of Bob Cooter, Roland Kirstein attended the University of California, Berkeley Law School and, at the invitation of Ted Bergstrom, the Economics Department of the University of California, Santa Barbara , to conduct research on asymmetric information in consumer goods markets. In 2003 and 2005, he was visiting professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and held courses on “Law and Economics” ( economic analysis of law ).

Roland Kirstein is married and has two sons. He is a fan and sponsoring member of SV Werder Bremen and 1. FC Magdeburg . In 2019 he acquired the Trainer C license from the German Football Association and has been training for the G and F youth teams for the BSV 79 eV club in Magdeburg-Cracau since then.
