Roland Rosenstock

Roland Rosenstock (* 1966 in Bielefeld ) is a German Protestant theologian , media educator and author. He holds the chair for practical theology (religious education / media education) at the University of Greifswald and focuses on the relationship between religion and the media.

Career

Roland Rosenstock studied Protestant theology , philosophy and education at the universities of Bielefeld / Bethel , Bochum , Greifswald , Marburg and Kiel . In 1994 he passed his first theological exam and subsequently worked as a lecturer at the theological faculty of the Comenius University in Bratislava in Slovakia . After a year abroad, Rosenstock returned to his former place of study in Kiel in 1995 and worked there until 1996 as a research assistant at the Institute for Practical Theology at Christian Albrechts University. Following this, he moved to Munich at the Ludwig-Maximilians University , where he - also as a research associate at the Institute for Practical Theology - five years worked and 2001 on the subject of "Protestant press in the 20th century" doctorate .

From 2001 Rosenstock completed the second part of the pastor's training , the vicariate , in Puchheim in Upper Bavaria . He completed his theological training in 2003 with the subsequent second theological exam and the subsequent ordination . In the same year he followed the call to the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Universität Greifswald , where he took over the junior professorship for practical theology with a focus on " religious education and media research ". Since autumn 2009 Rosenstock has been a full professor for practical theology with a focus on "Religious and Media Education ".

Research priorities

Roland Rosenstock is mainly dedicated to the relationship between religion and the media , with a particular focus on media ethics , pedagogy and didactics as well as media competence development . In this context he developed and supervised a number of projects. The cartoon series CHI RHO - The Secret , which was produced and broadcast in cooperation with KiKA , was created with his participation . He also wrote the books for eight episodes in the series. Rosenstock was also involved in the show with the mouse on the subject of questions about God, the world and the major religions and also wrote the appropriate children's books.

Rosenstock established the media educational project “ComputerSpielSchule Greifswald” to promote the development of media skills, which was awarded the German Libraries Future Prize and which was visited in 2013 by Federal President Joachim Gauck . In this context, Rosenstock also advises the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Media Authority and has developed a “media compass” that presents media educational projects sorted by age group. In addition, he developed special Internet offers for children and senior citizens for the EKD .

Rosenstock is a member of various specialist societies , such as the German Society for Media and Communication Studies , the Society for Media Education and Communication Culture (GMK) and the Society for Scientific Religious Education . Rosenstock is also a member of the expert jury for the GMK Medius Prize. Furthermore, he works as an examiner for the voluntary self-control television and was chairman of the board of trustees of the Evangelical School Foundation Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Northern Elbia from 2005 to 2009.
