Roland Verwey (born December 27, 1981 in Duisburg ) is a former German ice hockey player who last played for the Krefeld Pinguinen in the German Ice Hockey League and ended his career there after the 2013/14 season after 9 years .

Career

Verwey began his professional career at his home club EV Duisburg , for whose professional team the then 16-year-old made his first appearances in the 1997/98 season . In the following 1998/99 season, the left shooter moved to the mosquito food , where he only came to a single second division game and could not score a point. The following year Verwey was able to complete his first 27 DEL games with the promoted club, but was sent back to the juniors without a scorer point for the 2000/01 season.

For the 2001/02 season , the attacker switched to league competitor Iserlohn Roosters , where he was able to book regular working time for the first time under Greg Poss . Verwey scored two goals in 59 games and was able to prepare another. In the following season , however, the attacker disappointed in an otherwise surprisingly strong team, but was able to reverse the negative trend in the 2003/04 season with five goals and six assists and achieve his best performance of the season to date.

For the 2005/06 season , Roland Verwey followed his previous assistant coach Teal Fowler , who took over the coaching position with the Krefeld Penguins and signed a contract with the Rhinelanders until 2011. In February 2011, Verwey extended his contract with the Krefeld Penguins for two years to At the end of the 2012/13 season and at the end of May, his contract was extended for a further season until the end of the 2013/14 season. After the season, Roland Verwey announced the end of his career.
