Franz-David Fritzmeier (born April 18, 1980 in Bad Tölz ) is a former German ice hockey player who has been the sports director of the Löwen Frankfurt since December 2017 .
Player career
The left shooter began his professional career in the 1996/97 season at the age of 16 in the first division south at SC Riessersee . He came in 25 missions on 3 goals and 7 points. Then in 1997 he moved back to his home club, EC Bad Tölz , where he scored 3 goals and 10 points in 44 second division games. Also in the 1998/99 season he played at EC Bad Tölz and achieved a record of 3 goals and 15 points in 45 games.
He then ventured overseas, where he played eight games with two assists for the Ottawa 67’s . But already during the 1999/2000 season he moved back to Germany, where he joined the Mannheim young eagle . For this he was preferably used in the league , where he reached 27 goals and 47 points in 39 games. In addition, he was pulled up for 7 games in the German Ice Hockey League, where he remained without points. By this time, the junior national player had completed a total of 23 international matches at junior world and European championships with 9 goals and 13 points.
For the 2000/01 season he joined the EC Bad Nauheim . For the team from Hessen he was used 44 times in the 2nd division , scored 4 goals and reached 8 points.
At the age of 21 signed a contract with the Kassel Huskies in the DEL. Here he got no points in 10 missions and was handed over to the Revierlöwen Oberhausen . In total he played 50 times for the Revierlöwen, scored 2 goals and gave 6 assists for 8 points with a +/- of +1. For the 2002/03 season he moved to the Nürnberg Ice Tigers . In 42 games, including play-offs, he scored 2 goals and 8 points with a +/- of +4.
He spent the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons with the Iserlohn Roosters . In 52 games he was able to achieve the best data of his career up to this point in the first season with 5 goals this season and 9 points. For the 2005/06 season he moved to the Krefeld Penguins with the Roosters Teal Fowler's assistant trainer and his teammate Roland Verwey . His contract ran until the end of the 2005/06 season.
In October 2006 his contract was terminated by mutual agreement, after which Fritzmeier joined the Füchsen Duisburg . After he was too old there to be given a production license , he switched to the cooperation partner, the Herner EV 2007 . In addition to his role as a player, he also worked in management. Until 2009 he was to take care of the management of the license players there, as well as work as a scout . He then moved back to the Füchsen in Duisburg, where he played as captain in the regional league.
Trainer and functionary career
In 2011 he ended his playing career and became the Füchse's assistant coach. At the end of September, Andreas Lupzig left the club and Fritzmeier was promoted to head coach. From October 10, 2014, he was assistant trainer at the Kölner Haien .
At the beginning of November 2015, Fritzmeier became the head coach of the Krefeld Pinguine , using an exit clause in his contract with the Kölner Haien. He became the youngest trainer in DEL history. He was released on December 19, 2016 in Krefeld. At the time of the split, the penguins were at the bottom of the table.
On December 21, 2017, he took up the post of sports director of Löwen Frankfurt in the DEL2 . In addition to his position as sports director, he has also been the Löwen head coach since mid-March 2018.
