Martin Buchwieser (born May 28, 1989 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , Bavaria ) is a German ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Löwen Frankfurt in the DEL2 since July 2019 .
Career
Buchwieser began his career in the 2004/05 season at the age of 15 at SC Riessersee in the DNL and he had his first appearance in the league team in the 2005/06 season .
In the 2006/07 season he was increasingly used in the upper league, but also had some missions in the DNL team. This year he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with SC Riessersee and in the 2007/08 season he played a solid first second division season.
In April 2008 it was announced that Buchwieser would not renew his contract with SC Riessersee and that he would lace up his skates for EHC Munich in the 2008/09 season . With the EHCM he became champions of the 2nd Bundesliga in 2010 and rose to the German ice hockey league . Buchwieser knew how to put himself in the limelight in his first DEL season and was voted DEL rookie of the year by the specialist magazine Eishockey News . He played in the first attack block of the EHC with the center Eric Schneider , scored 20 goals in 47 main round games, gave another 23 assists with a +/- balance of +6 and was thus able to increase significantly compared to the previous season, as he had previously received 17 points ( 6 goals) in 45 games - a difference of 30 points, although the striker was up a league.
Internationally, Buchwieser was used in 2006 at the World Junior A Challenge in Canada and in 2007 at the U-18 World Cup in Finland.
In July 2011, Buchwieser took part in a viewing week in July 2011 at the invitation of the Toronto Maple Leafs from the National Hockey League .
In the 2012/13 season he was team captain of the EHC Munich, alternating with Felix Petermann .
For the 2013/2014 season , Buchwieser moved to Adler Mannheim . In the 2014/15 season he reached first place in the table after the regular season with the Eagles and won the German championship in the subsequent play-offs .
In May 2016 Buchwieser was signed by the Hamburg Freezers , in return David Wolf moved to Mannheim. However, he shouldn't play a single game for the Freezers because the club didn't apply for a license for the 2016/17 DEL season. Buchwieser then changes to ERC Ingolstadt for one season in late summer .
In April 2017, Buchwieser's contract was not renewed by ERC Ingolstadt and he switched to Eisbären Berlin a month later . Despite a contract that originally ran until 2021, he has to leave the polar bears early in July 2019. However, shortly afterwards he received an offer for the DEL2 of the Löwen Frankfurt and has been under contract there ever since.
