Eduard Lewandowski ( Russian Эдуард Вольдемарович Левандовский ., Scientific transliteration Eduard Voldemarovič Levandovskij ; * 3. May 1980 in Krasnoturyinsk , Russian SFSR ) is a German - Russian ice hockey player , who since the season 2018/19 for the lion Frankfurt in DEL2 plays.

Career

Eduard Levandowski was born in Krasnoturjinsk, Russia, where he learned a sport called bandy at an early age , which is similar to ice hockey. At the age of 15 he came to Germany as a resettler , switched to ice hockey and began his professional career in 1997 at EC Wilhelmshaven , where he and the team were promoted from the regional league to the 2nd Bundesliga within two years . In the 2nd division he was one of the top performers at the North German club. In his first two years he posted 87 points scorer in 97 games.

For the 2001/02 season Lewandowski moved to the German Ice Hockey League for the Eisbären Berlin . After a season that was personally successful for him, in which he was eliminated with the polar bears in the quarter-finals of the playoffs, he decided to switch to the then reigning German champions, the Kölner Haien . An important reason for his move was that Hans Zach was a coach in Cologne. Lewandowski had already worked with him on the national team.

In Cologne, Lewandowski developed into one of the technically best German ice hockey players. He was selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in a total of 242nd place during the NHL Entry Draft 2003 , but initially decided to stay with the Sharks. The greatest successes with the KEC were the runner-up in 2003 and winning the DEB Cup in 2004 .

In the 2006/07 season he moved to league rivals Adler Mannheim and promptly won the cup and the championship . In the summer of 2008 Lewandowski extended his contract in Mannheim, but switched to the Russian KHL participant HK Spartak Moscow for the 2008/09 season . The Adler held his DEL transfer rights until 2011.

In January 2010, Spartak Moscow gave Levandowski to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk . For Neftechimik he completed 20 KHL games before he was committed by Atlant Mytishchi in July of the same year . In the following two years Lewandowski went on the ice for Atlant and made over 100 appearances in the main round as well as 36 playoff games and stood with his club in the KHL playoff final for the Gagarin Cup in the 2010/11 season , but lost this against Salawat Julajew Ufa . After his contract expired, he moved back to Spartak Moscow in May 2012. In January 2013, he was loaned to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk until the end of the season and played 14 games for this club. He then returned to Spartak, but was handed over to Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg in May 2013 . After seven years in the Continental Hockey League, he returned to the German Ice Hockey League for the 2015/16 season and signed a two-year contract with the Düsseldorfer EG , which was then extended by one year. For the 2018/19 season Lewandowski moved to the Löwen Frankfurt in the DEL2 .

International

Although Lewandowski was always one of the top performers and top scorers in his clubs, he was rarely able to access this performance with the national team. Nevertheless, between 2002 and 2006 he was a member of the DEB squad. He took part in the World Championships from 2002 to 2005, as well as the World Cup of Hockey 2004 and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
