Erik Sebastian Collberg (born February 23, 1994 in Mariestad ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Löwen Frankfurt in the DEL2 since June 2020 .

Career

Sebastian Collberg began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Mariestad BoIS , for whose senior team he was active in the third-class Division 1 in the 2009/10 season . The winger then moved to Frölunda HC , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Elitserien , the top Swedish division, in the 2010/11 season . In his rookie year he stayed in the Elitserien in five games without points and punishment. He also played a game in the European Trophy . In the KHL Junior Draft 2011 he was selected in the fifth round as a total of 124th player from HK Awangard Omsk , but initially remained at Frölunda HC, where he was able to earn a regular place in the 2011/12 season.

In the summer of 2012, the Montreal Canadiens from the National Hockey League secured the Swede's transfer rights as part of the NHL Entry Draft and signed him in May 2013. Collberg had previously played two games for the Hamilton Bulldogs farm team in the American Hockey League in the 2012/13 season . For the following season 2013/14 he was loaned back to Frölunda by the Canadiens, before he was transferred to the New York Islanders in March 2014 within the NHL . Since the 2014/15 season, however, the attacker has only been used in the Bridgeport Sound Tigers farm team in the AHL.

After two years in the organization of the Islanders, with which he did not complete an NHL assignment, he returned to his homeland in May 2016 and signed a two-year contract with Rögle BK .

In the 2019/20 season Collberg played for the EC Graz 99ers in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga . Due to many injuries, he often did not exhaust his playing potential. In June 2020, his move to the Löwen Frankfurt in the DEL2 was announced.

International

For Sweden , Collberg took part in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2011 as well as in the U20 World Championships in 2012 , 2013 and 2014 and achieved the medal ranks with the Swedish selection.
