Rolando Pušnik

Rolando Pušnik ( Serbian - Cyrillic Роландо Пушник , born December 13, 1961 in Celje ) is a former Slovenian handball player .

The 1.88 m tall and 89 kg heavy handball goalkeeper made his debut for RK Celje at the age of 15 . After two years he moved to RK Železničar Niš , where he stayed for four years. He then went to Spain to Portland San Antonio and to Croatia to Badel 1862 Zagreb . In the 1991/92 season he returned to Celje, where he won the Slovenian championship twice. He then ran for the Slovenian clubs RK Prevent Slovenj Gradec and RD Slovan Ljubljana . With Badel Zagreb he reached the final in the EHF Champions League in 1998 and 1999 , but was defeated there by the overwhelming FC Barcelona . With the RK Metković Jambo he won the EHF Cup in 2000 and later ended his career with the RK Trimo Trebnje .

With the Yugoslav national team , Rolando Pušnik won the gold medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. There he was only the third goalkeeper behind Mirko Bašić and Zlatan Arnautović and was not used. The trio also won the gold medal at the 1986 World Cup . At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, he was used in three games and was rewarded with the bronze medal. With the Slovenian national team , he finished eighth at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. "Puška" ( rifle ) played 114 international matches for Slovenia , in which he scored four goals.
