Rolf Berndt (born April 28, 1946 in Niederschelden , Sieg) is a German politician ( FDP ). From 1983 to 1995 he was federal manager of the FDP and then until 2014 executive board member of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom .

Life

After graduating from the Evangelische Aufbaugymnasium in Herchen , Berndt studied economics and political science at the Ruhr University Bochum from 1966, and economics and sociology at the Albert Ludwigs University in Freiburg since 1969 . He successfully completed his studies with a degree in economics in 1971.

Berndt was appointed to the Federal Ministry of Economics in 1973 , where he was personal advisor to Federal Ministers Hans Friderichs and Otto Graf Lambsdorff , and from 1978 cabinet advisor . In 1981 he was seconded to the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the OECD / International Energy Agency in Paris as an energy officer . In 1995 he was elected executive board member of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation. He was a member of the advisory board of the Federal Academy for Security Policy . From 2013 to 2014 he was a member of the Potsdam City Council .

Berndt was a board member of the Walter Scheel Foundation from 1995 . He has been its chairman since 2015.

Berndt received an honorary doctorate from Hanyang University in Seoul in 1997 .

Political party

Berndt became a member of the FDP in 1968. 1973 to 1981 he was chairman of the district association in Altenkirchen . In 1983 he was appointed federal manager of the FDP to succeed Fritz Fliszar and remained so until 1995.
