Romy Fröhlich (* 1958 ) is Professor of Communication Studies at the Institute for Communication Studies and Media Research at the Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU) in Munich.

Life

Fröhlich completed her studies in communication studies , modern German literary history and theater studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU) . After completing her studies, she worked as a research assistant at the Society for Consumer, Market and Sales Research (GFK) Nuremberg. In 1986 she was a research assistant at the Institute of Journalism and Communication Research of the University of Music and Theater in Hanover (HMTH) , where she received her doctorate in 1993 with a dissertation on "broadcast PR."

Between 1993 and 1994 Fröhlich was a senior consultant and head of the "Overall Communication & Research" department at the PR agency Kroehl Identity Consultants, Frankfurt a. M. From 1994 to 1998 she worked as a research assistant at the HMTH , where she was also in charge of public relations at the university during this time. In 1998 he was offered a professorship for "Journalism and Public Relations with Special Consideration of Gender-Specific Aspects of Communication Studies" at the Journalism Section of the Ruhr University in Bochum . Since October 2000 she has been Professor of Communication Science at the Institute for Communication Science and Media Research at LMU Munich . Research stays at universities abroad took her to the Ohio State University in Columbus, USA, and the University of Newcastle in Australia.

For many years, Fröhlich was a member of the jury for the German PR Prize of the German Public Relations Society (DPRG) and chairwoman of the DPRG's training committee . She is a liaison professor at the Bavarian Elite Academy and a DFG ad hoc reviewer and reviewer for the DAAD . From 2002 to 2006 she was chairwoman of the German Society for Media and Communication Studies (DGPuK) . Since 2004 she has been a member of the LMU advisory board for foreign and foreign studies and since 2007, within the framework of the Excellence Initiative, mentor for young female researchers at Faculty 15 at LMU Munich . In June 2009 she was appointed by the Lower Saxony Minister for Science and Culture as a member of the University Council of the Hanover University of Music and Theater .
