The black, 16-year-old Ron drives risky maneuvers with his skateboard in front of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. One of his maneuvers fails and he falls on Tanja's sundae. Ron and Tanja fall in love. But Tanja's unemployed and very conservative-thinking father cannot get used to the idea that his daughter wants a black boyfriend. So he tries to break the two apart. He receives help from Uwe, a neighbor boy of Tanja's age, who would like to be Tanja's friend himself.

Ron plays the guitar very well , Tanja plays the flute . A sheet music shop in the east of the city plays an important role, as does Tanja's little brother Boris and the forest stage where Roger Gallaghan gives a concert. In the end, the two of them even go to Rome , where Ron learns surprising things about his origins. The school scenes were filmed at the Bröndby High School in Lankwitz in Berlin .
