Ronnie Dyson
Ronnie Dyson (* 5. June 1950 in Washington, DC ; † 10. November 1990 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) was an American pop - and R & B - singer . From 1970 to 1983 he released seven studio albums, his biggest hits are (If You Let Me Make Love to You Then) Why Can't I Touch You? and I Don't Wanna Cry (both 1970) and The More You Do It (The More I Like It Done to Me) (1976).
biography
Dyson lived in Brooklyn ( New York ) and sang as a child Gospel in churches. He later belonged to the original Broadway cast of the musical Musical Hair and became the lead singer of the title Aquarius , which was released as a single on RCA . In 1969 he signed a recording deal with Columbia . The song (If You Let Me Make Love to You Then) from the off-Broadway musical Salvation Why Can't I Touch You? became a top ten hit on the American pop and R&B charts in 1970 . A second R&B top 10 hit followed in the same year with I Don't Wanna Cry . By 1978, eight other Columbia-released songs reached US charts, including The More You Do It (The More I Like It Done to Me) released in 1976 , which became Dyson's third and final R&B top 10. Success became.
In the early 1980s Dyson switched to the Cotillion label, but only had three smaller hits. Only All Over Your Face from the summer of 1983 climbed to number 23 on the R&B charts and number 16 on the dance charts. His last solo single is See the Clown from 1990. In the same year he died of a heart attack . In 1991 Are We So Far Apart? , a duet with Vicki Austin, posthumously dropped to the bottom of the R&B charts.
