Roschniw ( Ukrainian Рожнів ; Russian Рожнов Roschnow , Polish Rożnów or Rożniów ) is a village in the Ukrainian Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast with about 5500 inhabitants (2001).
The village was until 2018 the only village of the same district municipality in the east of Rajon Kosiv , on March 6, 2018, the village became the center of the newly established rural community Roschniw (Рожнівська сільська громада / Roschniwska silska hromada ) to this are also the three villages Chymtschyn , Kobaky and Rybne (Рибне). It lies at the mouth of Tarnowez ( Тарновець ) in the Rybnyzja ( Рибниця ) 12 kms northeast of the Rajonzentrum Kosiv and about 100 km south-east of Oblasthauptstadt Ivano-Frankivsk . Territorial roads T – 09–09 and T – 09–04 run through the village .
The village, first mentioned in 1424, initially belonged to the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania ( Ruthenian Voivodeship ), was in the Austrian Crown Land of Galicia from 1772 to 1918 , then from 1918 to 1939 in the Second Polish Republic ( Stanislau Voivodeship , Powiat Kosów , Gmina Rożniów ) and since 1939 / 1945 as part of the Soviet Union within the Ukrainian SSR and, since 1991, the Ukraine.
Personalities
In 1948 the Ukrainian singer, folk artist and hero of Ukraine Marija Stefjuk ( Марія Юріївна Стеф'юк ) was born in the village .
