Roshnik ( Albanian  also  Roshniku , Turkish Roşnik ) is a village and former municipality in central Albania , which is located in the Bashkia Berat in the Qark Berat .

The village is secluded in the hills east of Berat at around 380  m above sea level. A. , about ten kilometers away on the road. Until the summer of 2015 it was the capital of a municipality of the same name ( komuna ) , which had a population of 2513 inhabitants at the 2011 census. The municipality Roshnik consisted of the 13 villages Bogdan i Poshtëm, Bogdan i Sipërm, Dardha, Karkanjoz, Kostren i Madh, Kostren i Vogël, Mimias, Perisnak, Qafë Dardha, Rabjak, Roshnik i Vogël, Roshnik Qendër and Vojnik. Today they form a local administrative unit within the municipality of Berat.

The place prides itself on being the birthplace of the Ottoman Grand Vizier Köprülü Mehmed Pascha (approx. 1580–1661), who founded the family of regents and officials of the Köprülü , from which numerous grand viziers of the Ottoman Empire and politicians in the Republic of Turkey such as Mehmet Fuat Köprülü ( CHP , later DP ). The local society Shoqata "Mehmet Qyperli Roshniku" Berat is dedicated to honoring this . According to other sources, however, the village of Rudnik near Veles (Turkish Köprülü , Albanian Qyprilliu ) is the place of origin of the family. It is also assumed that the Pontic place Vezirköprü is the place of origin of the father of Mehmed Köprülü.

Roshnik is one of 100 villages in which the Albanian government wants to specifically promote rural tourism . The agritourism offer in the village includes a winery that also offers overnight stays.

Protected as a national cultural monument is a stately home from the 19th century known as Shtëpia ku u krijua komiteti qarkor i partise (house where the regional party committee was founded).

A special feature of the place was the Ottoman mosque from the middle of the 17th century with wall paintings. The construction of this mosque was commissioned by Mehmed Pasha and carried out by the architect of the Reis Empire, Mimar Kasemi, as mentioned by inscriptions. The mosque was in use until 1967 when the practice of religion was banned in Albania by the communist regime. From then on, the building was used as a grain store. After the end of the Hoxha regime , it deteriorated increasingly. The mosque was then replaced by a new building. According to critics of the demolition of the historic building, the Muslim Community of Albania should have carefully restored the mosque.
