The Rougeanne (in the upper reaches: Alzeau ) is a river in France that runs in the Occitania region . It rises in the Montagne Noire , at the Col de la Croix de Fer , in the Haut-Languedoc Regional Nature Park . The source lies on the municipal boundary of Escoussens and Labruguière in the Tarn department . From here the river generally drains in a southerly direction and soon reaches the border with the neighboring Aude department , where it forms the borderline for about ten kilometers and flows into the Fresquel as a left tributary after a total of 34 kilometers at the municipal boundary of Moussoulens and Villesèquelande .

Below the dam Lac de Galaube is water in the supply channel trench de la Montagne Noire derived that the reservoir of Saint-Ferreol collected and used to water doping of the Canal du Midi is used.
