Labruguière ( La Bruguièira in Occitan ) is a French commune with 6535 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Castres and is the administrative seat of the canton of La Montagne Noire .
geography
Labruguière is located near the Monts du Sidobre and the Montagne Noire , on the banks of the Thoré river , a tributary of the Agout , which itself flows back into the Tarn . Labruguière is located about eight kilometers south-southeast of Castres and about 66 kilometers east-southeast of Toulouse . The municipality is also bordered by the Orbiel and the Rougeanne , both of which flow into the Aude . Part of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Nature Park and - in the extreme northeast of the municipality - part of the Castres-Mazamet airport are located in the municipality .
history
In 985 the round village of Brugeria is mentioned in the area. The castle complex was built in 1266, the church of Saint Thyrs in 1313. The castle was built in the 17th century by Louis von Cardaillac.
As early as 1793, the population of the village is given as 3,759.
