Labastide-Saint-Georges ( Occitan : La Bastida de Sant Jòrdi ) is a southern French municipality with 1,929 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn department in the Occitania region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Castres and the canton of Lavaur Cocagne (until 2015: canton of Lavaur ). The inhabitants are called bastidians .

location

Labastide-Saint-Georges is on the orographic right, i.e. H. eastern, river side of the agout in a river bend. Labastide-Saint-Georges is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ambres in the north, Fiac in the east and Lavaur in the south and west.

history

The bastide was founded in 1256 by Alfonso de Poitiers .
