Escoussens is a French commune with 601 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Castres and is part of the canton of La Montagne noire (until 2015: canton of Labruguière ). The inhabitants are called Escoussentois (also: Escarsentois ).

geography

Escoussens is located about eleven kilometers south-southwest of Castres in the Montagne Noire on the Bernazobre River . This is also where the Rougeanne rises . Escoussens is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Affrique-les-Montagnes in the north, Labruguière in the east and north-east, Laprade in the south and south-east, Arfons in the south and south-west and Verdalle in the west.
