Saint-Amans-Valtoret ( Occitan : Sant Amanç de Val Toret ) is a French commune with 902 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Castres and the canton of Mazamet-2 Vallée du Thoré (until 2015: canton of Saint-Amans-Soult ).

location

Saint-Amans-Valtoret is located about 25 kilometers south-east of Castres at the foot of the Montagne Noire (German "Black Mountains") and is part of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Nature Park . The Thoré borders the community in the south. In the north is the Lac des Saints-Peyres . Saint-Amans-Valtoret is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Vintrou in the north and north-west, Lasfaillades in the north, Anglès in the north-east, Rouairoux in the east, Sauveterre and Albine in the south-east, Saint-Amans-Soult in the south, and Bout-du-Pont-de -Larn in the west and Pont-de-Larn in the northwest.
