The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Castres and the canton of Les Hautes Terres d'Oc (until 2015: canton of Vabre ).

Saint-Salvi-de-Carcavès is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Masnau-Massuguiès in the north and west, Pousthomy in the north, Laval-Roquecezière in the east, Escroux in the south-east, Senaux in the south and Viane in the south and south-west.
