Saint-Salvy-de-la-Balme is located on the northern foothills of the Montagne Noire (Eng. "Black Mountains"). The municipality is located about 13 kilometers east of Castres . Saint-Salvy-de-la-Balme is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Burlats in the north, Le Bez in the east and northeast, Cambounès in the east and southeast, Boissezon in the south, Noailhac in the south and southwest, Caucalières in the west and Valdurenque in the northwest.
