Garrigues is a French commune with 252 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the canton of Les Portes du Tarn and the Arrondissement of Castres .

geography

Garrigues is about eight kilometers west of Lavaur , on the border with the neighboring Haute-Garonne department . The place is located on the approximately 13-kilometer-long Laragou river , which was dammed in the neighboring municipality of Montpitol to form Lac du Laragou . Part of the lake area belongs to garrigues.

The municipality borders on Azas to the north-west, Lugan to the north, Lavaur to the north-east and south- east, Saint-Agnan to the east, Verfeil to the south and Montpitol to the west .
