Vielmur-sur-Agout is a French commune with 1,464 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn department in the Occitanie region . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Castres and the canton of Plaine de l'Agoût (until 2015: Canton of Vielmur-sur-Agout ). The inhabitants are called the Mourois (es) .
geography
Vielmur-sur-Agout is located about 50 kilometers east of Toulouse and about twelve kilometers west-northwest of Castres on the Agout river , which forms the southern municipal boundary and into which the Bagas tributary flows. Vielmur-sur-Agout is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Cuq in the north, Jonquières in the northeast, Carbes in the east, Fréjeville in the southeast, Sémalens in the south, Puylaurens in the southwest and Guitalens-L'Albarède in the west and northwest.
