Ruben Yttergård Jenssen (born May 4, 1988 in Tromsø ) is a Norwegian football player . He is under contract with Brann Bergen .

Career

In the club

Before moving to Tromsø, left-footed Jenssen played for IF Fløya, known primarily for its women's soccer team, and for Sogndal Fotball . In April 2006, the central midfielder moved up to the Tromsø first team. In the following years he was a regular player alongside players like Helge Haugen , Sigurd Rushfeldt , Marcus Sahlman , George Mourad and Serigne Kara and reached the Europa League with the team in the 2011 season as third behind champions Rosenborg Trondheim and Vålerenga Oslo .

During the 2013 summer break, Jenssen signed a three-year contract with the German second division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern . In his first season he missed promotion to the Bundesliga as fourth in the table with FCK . In the DFB Cup quarter-final against Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen , Jenssen scored the 1-0 winner in the 114th minute and was eliminated in the semi-finals against Bayern Munich . In the 2014/15 season, 1. FC Kaiserslautern again finished fourth and one season later, the club was tenth.

During the summer break of 2016, Jenssen moved to the Dutch Eredivisie for FC Groningen . In his first season he played 33 games (two goals) in regular league games. Jensen played in two play-off games for participation in the UEFA Europa League , in which FC Groningen were eliminated by AZ Alkmaar , and twice in the KNVB-Beker . In the following season he played one game in the Dutch Cup and twelve games in the Eredivisie.

On January 4, 2018, Jenssen was awarded to his previous club 1. FC Kaiserslautern. In the event of relegation in the 2nd Bundesliga , 1. FC Kaiserslautern can purchase the transfer rights to Jenssen as an option. In the second half of the 2017/18 season, he completed 14 missions and was relegated with the Palatinate from the 2nd Bundesliga.

In August 2018 he returned to Norway and joined Brann Bergen . His contract runs until the end of the 2020 season.

In the national team

After Jenssen had already played six games for the Norwegian U-21 team from June to November 2009 , he made his senior national team debut in a friendly against Montenegro on May 29, 2010 , when he was on the starting line-up and in the 57th minute was exchanged for Per Ciljan Skjelbred . He played his last game for the national team on September 4, 2016, when he lost 3-0 in Oslo in the World Cup qualifier against Germany .
