Rudolf Krčil (born June 5 , according to other sources May 5, 1906 in Trnovany , † April 3 , according to other sources April 1, 1981 ) was a Czechoslovak football player and football coach.

Club career

Krčil, born in 1906 in Turn (Czech: Trnovany ) not far from Teplitz-Schönau, began playing football at the age of 13 at Teplitz FK . At the end of the 1920s, the midfielder made his debut in the professional team, which played in the 1st Czechoslovakian league from 1929.

Krčil, who was considered a low-scoring and inconspicuous player, nevertheless attracted the attention of Slavia Prague and moved to the capital in 1933. With Slavia, Krčil was Czechoslovakian champions in 1934, 1935 and (with a few appearances at the beginning of the season) in 1937. During the 1936/37 season, the Czech went to Malta and from then on played for Hibernians , according to other sources for FC Floriana . In the top Czechoslovak league Krčil came to 112 missions.

In 1937 he returned to Teplitz, which later became part of the German Reich , and played for NSTG Teplitz and the Sudeten selection until 1943/44, and for a few months in 1942 for FC St. Pauli , which suggests that he was meanwhile was considered a German Reich.

National team

Krčil made his debut on June 28, 1929 in the 3-3 draw against Yugoslavia in Zagreb in the Czechoslovak national team . He came to his second assignment almost three years later, when the ČSR parted with Austria in a 1-1 draw in Prague . From then on Krčil belonged to the regular squad of the Czechoslovaks and formed a strong team of three with Štefan Čambal and Josef Košťálek .

At the 1934 World Cup in Italy , the only 170 cm tall midfielder played all four games. Czechoslovakia was only defeated 2-1 in the final after extra time by the hosts. Krčil said goodbye on September 6, 1935, again the opponent was Yugoslavia, the game was played in Belgrade . Again there was no winner, the game ended goalless.

In the same year Krčil represented Czechoslovakia again. On October 27, 1935, a B selection of the ČSR met Italy in Genoa , the hosts won 3-1.

Coaching career

After the Second World War , Krčil worked as a trainer, first in Teplice, and in the early 1960s in Brno and Pilsen . Krčil also worked for 1. FC Tatran Prešov , also in Iceland and in what was then the Federal Republic of Germany for the regional league club Bergedorf 85 .
