Ruky Abdulai
Rukayatu "Ruky" Abdulai (born August 8, 1985 in Accra , Ghana ) is a Canadian athlete of Ghanaian origin. The 1.80 m tall and 59 kg athlete has been a Canadian citizen since 2007 and starts for Simon Fraser University in Burnaby .
Ruky Abdulai started at the Olympic Games 2008 for the first time internationally for her new adopted home Canada, but retired in the long jump with 6.41 m as 25th of the qualification. In 2009 she won the bronze medal at the Summer Universiade in Belgrade with 6.44 m, but failed again in the qualification at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin with 6.45 m as 15th. At the Commonwealth Games 2010 she made it to the finals and was tenth with 6.13 m. In addition, Ruky Abdulai competed with Amonn Nelson , Vicki Tolton and Carline Muir in the 4-by-400-meter relay . In the final, however, she was replaced by Adrienne Power and the quartet won the bronze medal without her. In 2011, she joined the World Athletics Championships in Daegu in the heptathlon and finished with a new personal best of 6212 points to 13th place.
Although Ruky Abdulai started for Canada in 2007, she still holds six Ghanaian national records today (as of 2012) , three outdoors and three indoors.
