History of origin

In the liner notes of the album, Gary Meskil gives the motivation for the album. It is important to the band to pay tribute to the bands that have accompanied and influenced Pro-Pain over the years. The album is made up of different cover versions of different bands from the hardcore punk and metal genre, including Slayer and Agnostic Front also some surprises, such as the German band Böhse Onkelz or the Swiss Celtic Frost . Song info

Eric Klinger sings for The Crowd of Operation Ivy .

Before joining Pro-Pain (2000), Eric Klinger was a member of the short-lived hardcore punk band The Spudmonsters from 1995 to 1998 . In the original version of 100% of the album Moment of Truth (1996) he was active as a guitarist. In the cover version he shares the vocals with Meskil.

Turpentine from the Böhse Onkelz was a special concern of the band. Meskil met the band at a festival during a European tour with Merauder and Rhythm Trip . The Böhsen Onkelz then hired Pro-Pain as the opening act for their 1998 tour. With this, Pro-Pain reached a much larger audience than was possible at their own concerts. Meskil sang the song in German . One of the reasons to cover this song was because it was the current single releasein 1998and Pro-Pain didn'twant to covera controversial song like Bomberpilot . Before the album was released, they played the song to the Onkelz, which gave them a positive response.

“We would have loved to cover every other song of theirs, but there were also songs that we weren't sure the ONKELZ would like if we covered them, like the" Bomberpilot "for example. That would have been very controversial, but I think we made the best choice and it represents the time when we became friends and the relationship between the bands became manifest. "

The song is also included on the DVD Vaya con Tioz (2007) in a live version of the farewell concert of the Böhsen Onkelz on June 18, 2005 at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz .

Pro-Pain lost its first drummer Dan Richardson to Life of Agony . Richardson is also the godfather of Meskil's son Dan. Klinger took over the vocals again for this song.

Just Sit There of Crumbsuckers was a logical choice for the cover album, as it was in this band around Meskils first. Meskil had written the song 21 years earlier.

Reviews

Michael Edele from Laut.de especially praises the rather unusual songs like weeds and turpentine , but says that many songs are not “the yellow of the egg” from a technical point of view.

"Run For Cover" is simply a great mood and even if not every track is the non-plus-ultra, you take away the honesty and the fun of the thing from the New Yorkers twice or three times. "
