Russudan Lortkipanidze

Russudan Lortkipanidze ( Russian Русудан Лордкипанидзе , Georgian რუსუდან ლორთქიფანიძე ; born August 5, 1947 in Tbilisi ) is a Soviet - Georgian architect , university teacher and diplomat .

Life

Lortkipanidse's father Rewas Lortkipanidze from the old Georgian noble family Lortkipanidze was director of the Institute for Structural Mechanics and Earth Tomography of the Academy of Sciences of the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic (AN-GSSR) . Her mother Elen Lortkipanidze was an economist .

After finishing secondary school in Tbilisi in 1965 with a gold medal Lortkipanidze began studying at the Architecture - Faculty of the Polytechnic Institute Tbilisi , where she graduated in 1970 with honors. Her thesis project for the construction of a child health center won first prize. 1971-1975 she studied at the Moscow Research Institute for Social Work and completed postgraduate , at the end it in 1975 with her dissertation on the principles of spatial design of a new after-school children's center from Tbilisi Polytechnic Institute for the candidate received his doctorate in architecture. In 1972 she became a member of the Union of Architects.

In 1975 Lortkipanidze became a research assistant at the Institute for Structural Mechanics and Earth Tomography of the AN-GSSR. From 1976 she also taught at the Polytechnic Institute in Tbilisi. 1982–1983 she was a visiting researcher at the University of Rome in the architecture faculty. 1989–1991 she completed her doctoral studies at the Moscow Architecture Institute (MArchI). In 1993 she defended her doctoral thesis on the influence of historical heritage on modern Italian architecture, whereupon she received her doctorate in architecture and was appointed professor .

From 1998 to October 1, 2004 Lortkipanidze was Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the newly independent Georgia in the Republic of Italy . She then became rector of Tbilisi State University . On April 7, 2006, she was replaced by lawyer Giorgi Chubua after criticizing the dismissals planned by the Ministry of Education.
