The Ruta 26 ( RN 26 for short ) is a national road in the Región de Antofagasta in the great north of Chile . In its 15.1 km course it is completely paved and connects the Ruta 5 Arica-La Serena with the Ruta 1 in the Antofagasta agglomeration . It is considered an autopista along its entire length.
The complete two-lane expansion over the entire length is currently underway under the operator Autopistas de Antofagasta . The Ruta is mainly used by intercity buses and tourists from the north, as well as by residents of the El Loa province . As soon as you enter the town, the street is called Avenida Presidente Salvador Allende and later becomes the Avenida Edmundo Pérez Zujovic promenade . The official function of this Ruta was ratified in 2010 by the Decree Nº 286 by the Ministerio de Obras Públicas de Chile (MOP).
