Ryan Kinasewich (born August 20, 1983 in St. Albert , Alberta ) is a Canadian - Croatian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Dornbirner EC in the Austrian Erste Bank Ice Hockey League since January 2015 .
Career
Kinasewich began his career in the Western Hockey League , where he spent three years each with the Medicine Hat Tigers and the Tri-City Americans and developed into an especially offensively strong defender. Through the Reading Royals , he joined the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL in 2005 , where he played for the following years. Although he was repeatedly called up to the American Hockey League and played a few games there, the Grizzlies remained his regular team, where he now holds the team's internal record of all-time top scorer. His most successful season so far is the 2009/10 season , where he scored 103 points in 59 games , making him the third-best scorer of the regular season.
In April 2010 it was announced that Kinasewich would dare to make the leap to Europe for the first time: he signed a contract for two seasons with the Croatian team KHL Medveščak Zagreb . In the 2011/12 season he was the second best scorer in the league with 54 points in 50 games.
At the beginning of the 2012/2013 season he was under contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg , but moved to Hockey Milano Rossoblu in November 2012 . Then the EC Graz 99ers took the then 30-year-old under contract. But even this he left after only a year. After he was initially without a club, he was signed by the Dornbirn EC in January 2015 .
International
Kinasevich has been eligible to play for the Croatian national ice hockey team since 2015 , with which he first took part in the 2015 World Cup in Division I.
