history

Söllichau was first mentioned in a document in 1346. The area was already inhabited by Teutons and, from the 6th century, by Slavs . Therefore the place name Söllichau is of Slavic origin: "Zelichow" (place of Mr. Zelich). After the conquest by the German kings, the area was settled by Flemish farmers around 1200.

Until 1815 Söllichau belonged to Saxony and was subject to the pension and sub-jurisdiction of the Düben office and thus to the Leipziger Kreis. As a result of the Vienna Congress Act, Söllichau came together with the entire Düben office to the kingdom and, after 1918, to the state of Prussia . It belonged to the Bitterfeld district in the province of Saxony .

After 1952 Söllichau was, along with its neighboring towns Tornau and Schwemsal , the district hall and the district Gräfenhainichen assigned. After the reunification of Germany in 1990, Söllichau remained in Saxony-Anhalt in the Graefenhainichen district, which later became part of the Wittenberg district .

Since July 1, 2009, the former municipality of Söllichau has belonged to Bad Schmiedeberg. The last mayor was Lothar Hennig.
