The district to the east of the city center covers an area of ​​2.71 km². It had 268 residents on December 31, 2008. The district mayor is Dirk Christiani. The place with its industrial area is located directly on the B 7 .

The village was first mentioned on October 22, 1150. The village church dates from the 12th century. The reconstruction and design of the interior in 1820/21 was carried out by Clemens Wenzeslaus Coudray (1775–1845), a master builder and architect of classicism . As part of the district reform of Thuringia in 1994 , the former district of Weimar became the municipality of Süßenborn and joined the city of Weimar.
