Südamarasi ( Indonesian Amarasi Selatan ) is an Indonesian district ( Kecamatan ) in the west of the island of Timor .

The district is located on the coast of the Timor Sea , in the south of the governmental district of Kupang in the province of East Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Timur), to the north is the Amarasi district , to the west of Westamarasi (Amarasi Barat) and to the east of Ostamarasi (Amarasi Timur) .
Südamarasi has an area of 172.81 km² and is divided into the five Desa Sahraen , Retraen , Buraen , Nekmese and Sonraen . The territory is at an altitude of up to 550 m . As in Timor, the tropical climate is divided into a rainy and a dry season .
Residents
In 2016 there were 11,078 inhabitants in South Marasi. 5662 were men, 5416 women. The population density was 64 people per square kilometer. 1766 people professed their Catholic faith, 9142 were Protestants, 39 people were Muslim and three were Hindu. There were five Catholic and 26 Protestant churches in the district.
Economy, infrastructure and transport
Most of the district's residents make a living from agriculture. Cattle (6139), horses (41), buffaloes (two), pigs (3645), goats (938), ducks (8141) and chickens (23,954) are kept as pets. Corn is grown on 1,412 hectares, rice on 170 hectares, cassava on 616 hectares and sweet potatoes on 323 hectares. In addition to harvest mustard, tomatoes, beans, oranges, bananas, mangoes, papayas, jackfruit, avocado, Soursop , coconuts, cocoa, kapok , light nuts , Arecanüsse , coffee, cashew nuts and nutmeg. In 2015, a total of 29.65 tons of fish were caught, including anchovies, groupers and others.
There are four kindergartens, twelve elementary schools, seven middle schools and four secondary schools in South Marasi. A municipal health center ( Puskesmas ) in Sonraen and four medical care centers ( Puskesmas Pembantu ) are available for medical care . A doctor, eight midwives and a nurse work in the district.
19.4 kilometers of roads are paved. 64.25 kilometers of roads are covered with gravel. Simple clay slopes in the district have a length of 66.5 kilometers. Public transport is operated by four minibuses, 34 pick-ups, 14 trucks and 94 motorcycles.
