Ostamarasi ( Indonesian Amarasi Timur ) is an Indonesian district ( Kecamatan ) in the west of the island of Timor .

The district is located on the coast of the Timor Sea , in the southeast of the government district of Kupang in the province of East Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Timur) . To the north are the districts of Amabi Oefeto and Ost-Amabi-Oefeto (Amabi Oefeto Timur) and to the west Amarasi and Südamarasi (Amarasi Selatan) . Across an estuary in the east is the administrative district of South Central Timor (Timor Tengah Selatan) with its district of South Amanuban (Amanuban Selatan) .
Ostamarasi has an area of 162.91 km² and is divided into the four Desa Pakubaun , Oebesi , Rabeka and Enoraen . The administrative headquarters are in Noehaen. As in Timor, the tropical climate is divided into a rainy and a dry season .

Residents
In 2017 there were 8,035 inhabitants in Ostamarasi. 4203 were men, 3832 women. The population density was 49 people per square kilometer. 921 people professed to be Catholic, 7417 were Protestants and 41 people were Muslim. There were seven Catholic and 18 Protestant churches in the district.
Economy, infrastructure and transport
Most of the district's residents make a living from agriculture. Cattle (20,450), horses (51), pigs (16,283), goats (3,742) and chickens (14,160) are kept as pets. Corn is grown on 1251 hectares, on 154.6 hectares of rice, on 210 hectares of cassava, on four hectares of sweet potatoes, on nine hectares of peanuts and on five hectares of green beans. In addition to harvest squash, tomatoes, bananas, mangoes, papayas s, jackfruit, watermelon, coconut, kapok , light nuts , Arecanüsse , cashews, Lontar and nutmeg.
In Ostamarasi there are three kindergartens, 13 elementary schools, six middle schools and three secondary schools. A community health center ( Puskesmas ) in Oebesi, four medical care centers ( Puskesmas Pembantu ) and a midwife center ( Polindes ) are available for medical care . Nine midwives and five nurses work in the district, but no doctor.
2750 kilometers of roads are covered with gravel. There are no asphalt roads in the district. Public transport is operated by 25 pick-ups, 24 trucks and 17 motorcycles.
