South Amanuban ( Indonesian Amanuban Selatan ) is an Indonesian district ( Kecamatan ) in the west of the island of Timor .

The district is located in the southwest of the administrative district of South Central Timor (Timor Tengah Selatan) in the province of East Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Timur) on the coast of the Timor Sea . The sea is in the south of the district. In the northwest is the Batu Putih district , in the northeast is West Amanuban (Amanuban Barat) and Noebeba, and in the east is Kuan Fatu and Kualin .
South Amanuban has an area of 326.01 km² and is divided into the ten Desa Pollo , Bena , Oebelo , Noemuke , Oekiu , Batnun . Kiubaat , Linamnutu , Mio and Eno Neten . Only Bena and Oebelo have access to the sea. The Desa are again divided into a total of 37 Dusun (sub-villages). The administrative headquarters are in Taum . The highest Desa is Eno Neten at an altitude of 446 m above sea level. As in Timor, the tropical climate is divided into a rainy and a dry season . Almost no rain falls from August to November. The rainiest month is February. In 2016, 46 rainy days were counted and a total rainfall of 429.6 millimeters was recorded. In 2015 there were 30 rainy days and 482 millimeters of precipitation.

Residents
In 2016, there were 24,856 inhabitants in 6,208 in South Amanuban. 12,508 were men, 12,348 women. The population density was 76 people per square kilometer. 4.84 percent of the population profess the Catholic faith, 94.71 percent are Protestants and 0.45 percent are Muslim. There are one Catholic and 63 Protestant churches and chapels and a mosque in the district.
Economy, infrastructure and transport
Most of the district's residents make a living from agriculture. Cattle (14,615), buffalo (28), pigs (12,354), goats (5,503) and chickens (33,712) are kept as pets. Corn is grown on 1,752 hectares, rice on 2,918 hectares, cassava on 165 hectares, sweet potatoes on UBI JALAR hectares and peanuts on 15 hectares.
South Amanuban has 26 elementary schools, six middle schools, and one secondary school. Two municipal health centers ( Puskesmas ) and two medical care centers ( Puskesmas Pembantu ) are available for medical care . Three doctors, six midwives and eleven nurses are based in the district.
