North Molo ( Indonesian Molo Utara , also Mollo Utara ) is an Indonesian district ( Kecamatan ) in the west of the island of Timor .

The district is located in the northwest of the administrative district of South Central Timor (Timor Tengah Selatan) of the East Nusa Tenggara Province (Nusa Tenggara Timur) . In the west lies the Nunbena district , in the north Fatumnasi and Tobu , in the east Poland , in the south Central Mollo Tengah and in the southwest West Mollo (Mollo Barat) .

North Molo has an area of ​​206.20 km² and is divided into 18 Desa Leloboko , Nefokoko , Lelobatan , Netpala , Obesi , Eonbesi , Bosen , Sebot , Ajaobaki , Bijaepunu , Halme , Tunua , Fatukoto , Ius Molo (Ius Mollo) , Kokfeu , Tomanat , Tofen and Taiftob . The Desas are still divided into 47 Dusuns ("sub-villages"). The administrative headquarters are in Obesi. The district is located in the highlands of Timor. Desa Halme is the lowest at 518  m , while Ius Molo is at 1223  m and Leloboko is even at 1237  m . As in Timor, the tropical climate is divided into a rainy and a dry season . Rainy days exist all year round, but they are less common from June to November. The rainiest month is February, when more than a quarter of the total annual rainfall falls. In 2016, 1850 mm of precipitation was measured.

Residents

In 2017 there were 24,644 inhabitants in 5,445 households in Nordmolo. 12,200 were men, 12,444 women. The population density was 118 people per square kilometer. 97.6% of the inhabitants of North Molo are Protestants, 2.24 profess the Catholic faith, 0.47% are Muslims and 0.03% are Hindu. There was one Catholic and 51 Protestant churches and chapels in the district. Also a mosque.

Economy and Infrastructure

Most of the district's residents make a living from agriculture. Cattle (11,139), horses (204), buffalo (five), pigs (8,347), goats (627) and chickens (21,445) are kept as pets. Corn is grown on 2,352 hectares, rice on 173 hectares, cassava on 15 hectares, sweet potatoes on 67 hectares and peanuts on 100 hectares. Other agricultural products include garlic, shallots, carrots, potatoes, cabbage, beans, tomatoes, chilli, eggplant, water spinach, avocado, mangoes, tangerines, oranges, guavas, papayas, bananas and jackfruits.

There are 26 primary schools (19 public and seven private), ten middle schools (seven public and three private) and four secondary schools (one public in Ajaobaki and three private) in North Molo. A municipal health center ( Puskesmas ) in Obesi, three medical care centers ( Puskesmas Pembantu ) and a midwifery center ( Polindes ) are available for medical care .
