East Amanuban ( Indonesian Amanuban Timur ) is an Indonesian district ( Kecamatan ) in the west of the island of Timor .

The district is located in the north of the administrative district of South Central Timor (Timor Tengah Selatan) of the East Nusa Tenggara Province (Nusa Tenggara Timur) . In the northeast lies the Fatukopa district , in the east North Amanatun (Amanatun Utara) , in the south Noebana and Fautmolo , in the southwest Kie and in the west Oenino . In the north, East Amanuban borders on the administrative district of North Central Timor (Timor Utara Tengah) with its districts Noimuti and East Noimuti (Noimuti Timur) .

East Amanuban has an area of ​​149.26 km² and is divided into the ten Desa Mauleum , Oelet , Oeekam (Oe'Ekam) , Pisan , Mnela'Anen , Telukh , Nifukiu , Billa , Sini and Tli'u . The Desa are again divided into a total of 31 Dusun (sub-villages). While Billa is at an altitude of 247  m , Pisan is at an altitude of 601  m above sea level. As in Timor, the tropical climate is divided into a rainy and a dry season . September and October are dry. Most of the rain falls in January. In 2017 126 were registered and a total amount of precipitation of 87.97 millimeters.

Residents

In 2017 there were 17,905 inhabitants in East Amanuban. 8,818 were men, 9,087 women. The population density was 120 people per square kilometer. There were 14 Catholic and 42 Protestant churches and chapels and eleven mosques in the district.

Economy, infrastructure and transport

Most of the district's residents make a living from agriculture. Cattle (7,789), horses (19), buffalo (22), pigs (8,203), goats (1,807) and chickens (23,522) are kept as pets. Corn is grown on 2,267 hectares, 107 hectares of rice, 794 hectares of cassava, 55 hectares of sweet potatoes, 90 hectares of peanuts and 122 hectares of green mung beans .

East Amanuban has 22 elementary schools, seven middle schools and seven secondary schools. Only one community health center ( Puskesmas ) in Oeekam is available for medical care . Other medical facilities such as medical care centers ( Puskesmas Pembantu ) or midwifery centers ( Polindes ) are lacking. Two doctors, eleven midwives and nine nurses are based in the district.
