Noimuti (Noemuti) is a district ( Kecamatan ) of the Indonesian administrative district ( Indonesian Kabupaten ) of North Central Timor (Timor Tengah Utara) in the province of East Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Timur) on the island of Timor . The administrative headquarters are in Kote in Desa Noimuti .

Noimuti is located in the south of the administrative district of North Central Timor. In the West Noimuti borders the district Westmiomaffo (Miomaffo Barat) , to the north by the districts Zentralmiomaffo (Miomaffo Tengah) and Südbikomi (Bikomi Selatan) and to the east by Ostnoimuti (Noimuti Timur) . To the south is the administrative region of South Central Timor (Timor Tengah Selatan) . Noimuti has an area of 155.60 km². The entire territory is at an altitude of over 700 m . The population density is 78 inhabitants per square kilometer.
The district is divided into twelve administrative villages. The largest "village" is Popnam with 1,396 inhabitants on an area of 20.20 km².
The tropical climate is determined by a rainy season from December to March and a dry season from June to September.
Native plants include palmyra palms , bamboo, coconut, teak, mahogany, and lamtoro.
Residents
In 2016, 12,073 people (6,016 men and 6,057 women) lived in 3,075 families in the district. In 2016 there were 194 births and 114 deaths in the district. 1,418 residents were 0 to 4 years old, 196 were 75 years or older.
11,531 people profess the Catholic faith, 532 people are Protestants, five Muslims, four Hindus and one resident calls himself a Buddhist. There are 13 Catholic churches in the district and one Protestant church each in Noimuti and Oenak .
history
The name of the district is derived from the ancient Timorese empire of Noimuti . Until 1913 it was a Portuguese exclave in the Dutch part of West Timor . Then the two colonial powers exchanged their exclaves Noimuti and Maucatar .
Public facilities
The district has two kindergartens, 16 elementary schools, five junior high schools, and four senior high schools. Twelve health facilities are available for medical care.
Economy and Infrastructure
9,529 of the population are farmers. Rice was grown on 437 hectares in 2015 in the district and 1,634 tons were harvested. A harvest of 1,087 tons of maize was achieved on 520 hectares and 270 tons of cassava were produced on 26 hectares. Oranges, bananas, mango, papaya, jackfruit, avocado and pineapple were harvested as fruits. Other agricultural products are peanuts and green beans. In 2016, the farm animals kept 4,898 cattle, 21 water buffalo, 76 horses, 305 goats, 3,390 pigs and 8,803 chickens.
