Central Insana ( Indonesian Insana Tengah ) is an Indonesian district ( Kecamatan ) in the west of the island of Timor .

The district is located in the center of the administrative district of North Central Timor (Timor Tengah Utara) in the province of East Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Timur) . In the west are the districts of Nordinsana (Insana Utara) , Insana Fafinesu and Ostmiomaffo (Miomaffo Timur) , in the east the districts Biboki Moenleu and South Biboki (Biboki Selatan) and in the south the districts Insana and Westinsana (Insana Barat) .
Central Insana has an area of 124 km² and is divided into the seven Desa Lanaus , Letmafo , Ostletmafo (Letmafo Timur) and Maubesi in the south, Sone and Oehalo in the center and Tainsala in the north. The administrative headquarters are in Maubesi. The territory is less than 500 m above sea level . As usual in Timor, the climate is divided into a rainy season from December to March and a dry season from April to September.
Residents
In 2017, 11,213 people lived in Central Insana. 5,584 were men, 5,629 women. The population density was 90 people per square kilometer. 11,096 people professed their Catholic beliefs, 105 were Protestants and twelve people were Muslim. There were five Catholic and one Protestant churches in the district.
Economy, infrastructure and transport
Most of the district's residents make a living from agriculture. Cattle (6,088), horses (20), buffalos (29), pigs (2,506), goats (1,176) and chickens (10,105) are kept as pets. Maize is grown on 704 hectares, 391 hectares of rice, 254 hectares of cassava, ten hectares of sweet potatoes, 40 hectares of peanuts and 19 hectares of green beans.
There are ten elementary schools, three middle schools, and one secondary school in Central Insana. A community health center ( Puskesmas ), a medical care center ( Puskesmas Pembantu ) and three midwifery centers ( Polindes ) are available for medical care .
Public transport is operated by six minibuses, 23 pick ups and trucks, 107 motorcycles and one other vehicle.
