Insana Fafinesu is an Indonesian district ( Kecamatan ) in the west of the island of Timor .

The district is located in the center of the administrative district of North Central Timor (Timor Tengah Utara) in the province of East Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Timur) . In the east and south Insana Fafinesu borders on Central Insana (Insana Tengah) , in the west on East Miomaffo (Miomaffo Timur) and in the north on Nordinsana (Insana Utara) .

Insana Fafinesu has an area of ​​52.88 km² and is divided into the six Desa Fafinesu A and Fafinesu in the southwest, Fafinesu B in the southwest, Oenain in the west, Fafinesu C in the east and Banuan in the north. The administrative headquarters are in Loel in Fafinesu C. The territory is between 500  m and 700  m above sea level . As usual in Timor, the climate is divided into a rainy and a dry season . 12,640 hectares of the district are forested.

Residents

In 2017, Insana Fafinesu had 5,490 inhabitants. 2,725 are men, 2,765 women. The population density is 103.8 people per square kilometer. 5,490 people profess the Catholic faith and three are Protestants. There are three Catholic churches in the district.

Economy, infrastructure and transport

99.7% of the district's households are farming. Cattle (4,758), pigs (920), goats (633) and chickens (2,751) are kept as pets. Maize is grown on 1,850 hectares, rice on 285 hectares, cassava on 55 hectares, sweet potatoes on 10 hectares and peanuts on 20 hectares. Other agricultural products include cabbage, avocados, mangoes, oranges, papayas, bananas, pineapples, coconuts, coffee, hazelnuts, areca nuts, cashew nuts, cocoa, kapok, tamarind and jackfruit. 57 small shops supply the population with imported goods.

In Insana Fafinesu there are six elementary schools, one middle school and one secondary school. A community health center ( Puskesmas ), a medical care center ( Puskesmas Pembantu ) and five midwifery centers ( Polindes ) are available for medical care .

Public transport is operated by three minibuses, seven pick ups and trucks and 51 motorcycles.
