Kualin is an Indonesian district ( Kecamatan ) in the west of the island of Timor .

The district is located in the southwest of the administrative district of South Central Timor (Timor Tengah Selatan) in the province of East Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Timur) on the coast of the Timor Sea . The sea is in the south of the district. In the west lies the district of South Amanuban (Amanuban Selatan) , in the north the district of Kuan Fatu and in the northeast, finally, the district of Kolbano .
Kualin has an area of 195.84 km² and is divided into the eight Desa Toineke , Tuafanu , Kiufatu , Kualin , Oni , Tuapakas , Nunusunu and Oemaman . The Desa are again divided into a total of 28 Dusun (sub-villages). The administrative headquarters are in Lani in Desa Kualin. Lani is also the highest place in the district, with a height of 247 m above sea level. All Desa have access to the sea, except for Kiufatu, Nunusunu and Oemaman. As in Timor, the tropical climate is divided into a rainy and a dry season . Rain falls between January and August, while drought prevails from September to December. In 2017, a total of 1,057.5 millimeters of precipitation was measured over the year.

Residents
In 2017 there were 21,749 inhabitants in Kualin. 10,907 were men, 10,842 women. The population density was 111 people per square kilometer. There are two Catholic and nine Protestant churches and chapels and two mosques in the district.
Economy, infrastructure and transport
Most of the district's residents make a living from agriculture. Cattle (8,449), horses (twelve), pigs (9,241), goats (2,770), ducks (149) and chickens (22,428) are kept as pets. Maize is grown on 1,798 hectares, eight hectares of rice, 108 hectares of cassava, three hectares of peanuts and 40 hectares of green mung beans. Other agricultural products include onions, garlic, cabbage, chilli, eggplant, spinach, avocado, mango, tangerines, oranges, breadfruits, papayas, bananas, jackfruits and sirasak.
There are 19 elementary schools, eight middle schools and five secondary schools in Kualin. There is a municipal health center ( Puskesmas ) and three medical care centers ( Puskesmas Pembantu ) for medical care . There are 13 midwives and four nurses in the district. Doctors who are permanently present are missing.
