Kokbaun is an Indonesian district ( Kecamatan ) in the west of the island of Timor .

The district is located in the northeast of the administrative district of South Central Timor (Timor Tengah Selatan) of the East Nusa Tenggara Province (Nusa Tenggara Timur) . In the southwest is the district of North Amanatun (Amanatun Utara) and in the south of the district of Toianas . In the north, Kokbaun borders the Malaka administrative district with its Rinhat district .
Kokbaun has an area of 34.32 km² and is divided into the six Desa Lotas , Sapnala , Kol'oto , Obaki , Benahe and Niti . The administrative headquarters are in Lotas. The Desa are in turn divided into a total of twelve Dusun (sub-villages). While Lotas is at 353 m , Niti is at an altitude of 793 m above sea level. As in Timor, the tropical climate is divided into a rainy and a dry season . Most of the rainfall occurs in January, while September and October remain dry. In 2017, on a total of 126 rainy days, an annual rainfall of 872.99 millimeters was measured.
Residents
In 2017 there were 3,390 inhabitants in Kokbaun. 1,650 were men, 1,716 women. The population density was 99 people per square kilometer. There were five Catholic and seven Protestant churches and chapels in the district.
Economy, infrastructure and transport
Most of the district's residents make a living from agriculture. Cattle (970), pigs (702), goats (16) and chickens (1,603) are kept as pets. Corn is grown on 779 hectares and mung beans on 36 hectares. Coconuts, cashews, light nuts and areca nuts come from plantations. No other agricultural rice is grown in Kokbaun.
There are four elementary schools and one middle school in Kokbaun. There is no secondary school in the district. Only one community health center ( puskesmas ) in Kol'oto is available for medical care . There are no other medical facilities in the other villages, such as medical care centers ( Puskesmas Pembantu ) or midwifery centers ( Polindes ). Likewise midwives. There are only two doctors and four nurses in the district.
