East Kupang ( Indonesian Kupang Timur ) is an Indonesian district ( Kecamatan ) in the west of the island of Timor .

The district is located on the east bank of the Bay of Kupang , in the south of the government district of Kupang in the province of East Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Timur) . In the north are the districts of Sulamu and Central Fatuleu (Fatuleu Tengah) , in the east Fatuleu and Amabi Oefeto , in the south Amarasi and Taebenu and in the south-east Central Cupang (Kupang Tengah) .
Eastern Cupang has an area of 177.63 km² and is divided into the eight Desa Oefafi , Pukdale , Nunkurus , Tuapukan , Manusak , Desa Oesao , Oelatimo and Tanah Putih and the five Kelurahan Tuatuka , Kel Oesao , Naibonat , Babau and Merdeka . The territory is largely below an altitude of about 100 m . As in Timor, the tropical climate is divided into a rainy and a dry season . The landscape consists of hills and grasslands.
Residents
In 2017 there were 60,544 residents in East Cupang. 31,118 were men, 29,426 women. The population density was 341 people per square kilometer. 8,843 people professed their Catholic faith, 32,517 were Protestants, 1202 were Muslim and 76 were Hindu. There were nine Catholic and 59 Protestant churches as well as eight mosques and one Hindu temple in the district.
Economy, infrastructure and transport
Most of the district's residents make a living from agriculture. Cattle (SAPI), horses (KUDA), buffalo (KERBAU), pigs (BABI), goats (KAMBING) and chickens (AYAM) are kept as pets. Corn is grown on 959.2 hectares, 966.7 hectares of rice, 35 hectares of cassava, 2.0 hectares of sweet potatoes, 3.0 hectares of peanuts and 26.4 hectares of green beans. In addition to harvest cabbage, mustard, tomatoes, oranges, bananas, mangoes, papayas, jackfruit, Soursop , coconuts, cocoa, kapok , light nuts , Arecanüsse , coffee, cashew nuts and Lontar .
There are eleven kindergartens, 29 elementary schools, ten middle schools and five secondary schools in East Kupang. A hospital in Naibonat, two municipal health centers ( Puskesmas ) in Naibonat and Kel Oesao, and ten medical care centers ( Puskesmas Pembantu ) are available for medical care . According to statistics, there were two doctors, 33 midwives and 28 nurses working in the district in 2017.
Public transport is operated by 42 minibuses, 277 pick-ups, 67 trucks and 443 motorcycles.
