The SES SA (until 2007 SES Global ) is a 2001 founded management holding company of satellite operators , including SES Astra , which operates the Astra -Satellitensystems, and the General Electric subsidiary GE Americom , now SES Americom . SES stands for Société Européenne des Satellites , in German European Satellite Society . New Skies Satellites NV has also been a subsidiary of SES SA since December 2005. The holding company is based at Schloss Betzdorf in Betzdorf , Luxembourg .

With a fleet of 51 geostationary satellites , the SES group reached 99% of the world's population in 2012. In October 2019, the company operated 40 geostationary and seven other geosynchronous satellites, plus two dozen in mid-earth orbits .

The company holds strategic investments in several regional operators.

The company is listed on the Luxembourg and Paris stock exchanges under the symbol SESG .
